NOTE

While a documented procedure regarding how we handle doxxing reports exists, ultimately, each report is handled on a case-by-case basis. The outcome of each report is decided by a plethora of factors.

ℹ️ Administrator and above may handle Doxxing reports.

In the PvP community, Doxxing is a prevalent issue, and has to be handled with care.

It’s a term that is thrown around for a lot of cases and not really used correctly.

What do we consider Doxxing?

We consider doxxing to be:

“The unconsented sharing of personal information that can be used to identify an individual.”

Most common case

The most often scenario of “Doxxing” is where a user has, for example, a picture of their face shared in a group chat.

In this scenario, we often check who the picture was shared with, and try to find out how it was spread. Usually, the source of the picture is from the “victim” sharing it themselves - which falls on their own fault.

IP Leaking

We do punish for leaking IPs.

It’s commonly misunderstood that IPs are dangerous in “bad actors’” hands. This is not the case - very little can be done if a bad actor has your IP.

Furthermore, changing your IP can be as easy as switching on and off your router or, for static IP addresses, contacting your ISP to have it changed manually.

However, we will still punish for it, scaling with the amount of users affected, and how the IPs were obtained and used.

Verdicts

Every situation is different, and punishments vary extremely widely to suit the scenario.

These reports are almost always handled by multiple Administrators to agree on and determine a suitable outcome.

Doxxing Scenarios

Doxx Threats

  • External Doxx Threat (in private DM’s or in another server):
    • If the user was not doxxed, and was just threatened, we will not take action. This threat did not occur in or on the PvPHub server, and so it is not our responsibility to deal with the threatener.
  • Internal Dox Threat (either in-game or on Discord):
    • If the user was threatened in PvPHub chats (including private messages), the threatener will be permanently muted if the offense was ingame, and banned from the Discord if the offence occurred on the Discord.

Doxxing

  • External Doxxing
    • Was the user’s address, location, personal information (credit card, ban number, social security, area code etc.) leaked?
      • No: User will be banned for 30 days on whatever platform the offence occurred on (a doxx in Discord constitutes a Discord ban, and in the same fashion, a doxx in-game constitutes an in-game ban).
      • Yes: User will be permanently banned from all PvPHub platforms.
  • Internal Doxxing
    • Was the user’s address, location, personal information (credit card, ban number, social security, area code etc.) leaked?
      • No: (only their IP, name, etc.):
        • Was anything more than the user’s name leaked?
          • No: User will be muted permanently.
          • Yes: User will be banned for one year
      • Yes: User will be banned permanently from all PvPHub platforms
